Allergies...

Yup that about sums it up!! Ryan got tested today for food allergies and came back positive for everything tested : ( He was such a good boy though, when he got pricked, he didn't even flinch and no crying at all. He tested positive for all components of eggs, dairy and peanuts. We didn't have him tested for other tree nuts at this time but were told to stay away from them as well. I have also been told that nursing is my decision, but that I should avoid those foods as well. For now I'm continuing to nurse and trying my best to limit my intake of eggs, dairy and peanut butter.... The Dr. said that 85% of kids outgrow the egg and dairy, while only 25% of kids outgrow the peanut. She also said that it is promising that neither Guy or I have any food allergies, so hopefully, we'll look back at all of this one day as a learning experience!! We all definitely have a lot of "thinking outside the box" in the way we cook, but we'll figure it out, one meal at a time!!

It definitely makes for interesting cooking and a whole lot of things you like get left out. I think the hardest part is educating others what foods can't be around your child.
There is a "peanut butter" that is made out of soy that is pretty good. I found it while at a conference and brought it home for a friend of mine whose daughter had just gotten diagnosed with peanut allergies. Even the Mom eats it. I think you can order it through Sysco.
